Overnight Snowshoe Expedition
A truly wonderful, back to nature adventure that enables you to experience the beauty and the silence of the Lappish wilderness by snowshoe.
We begin our trip with a visit to the Kellokas Visitor Centre where the excellent exhibition tells the story of the area over the years gone by. From Kellokas, set off on snowshoes that allow you to trek across the deep, pure, untouched snow without sinking.
Our expedition takes us into the heart of the old Lappish forests and up to scenic viewpoints. We stop en route to heat coffee the traditional way, over the fireplace.
Overnight is spent in a basic but cosy wilderness hut heated by a wood burning stove. During the evening, we’ll heat up the sauna and enjoy a delicious meal by candlelight and the glow of the fire.
In the morning, after breakfast, we’ll continue once again by snowshoe heading towards the ski centre of Ylläsjärvi. Weather permitting, we’ll take the gondola lift to the top of Ylläs Fell where we’ll enjoy a spot of lunch before making our snowshoe descent back down to Äkäslompolo village.

Day 1 – approximately 12 kilometres
Day 2 – approximately 10 kilometres
Participants should bring and carry their own overnight backpack with, towel, toiletries and change of clothes. Overnight is spent in a wilderness hut without electricity and water. Sleeping bag is provided by Destination Lapland.

Overnight Forest Ski Adventure
For those with some cross-country ski experience wishing to try a new method of skiing and discover more of the fascinating Lappish forests, our overnight Forest Ski tour could be perfect choice. Forest skis are longer and wider than the normal cross-country skis and enable the skier to ski across pure, untouched snow making their own tracks as they go.
Leaving the prepared trails behind, we ski deeper into the beautiful snow clad forests. We’ll stop en route to have a lunch and to heat coffee the traditional way over the fi replace. Overnight is spent in a simple but charming wilderness cabin heated from the warmth of a wood burning stove. During the evening, we’ll heat up the sauna for a spot of Finnish relaxation and dinner is eaten and enjoyed by candlelight and the glow of the fire.
In the morning, after breakfast we eagerly set off again for another day of exhilarating forest skiing as our expedition continues taking us back to Äkäslompolo village.

Overnight Wilderness Husky Adventure
A fantastic opportunity to enjoy husky dog sledding and the tremendous Arctic wilderness of Swedish Lapland. This overnight dog-sled tour begins at our Husky Camp in Sweden. Each participant will drive their own team of 4-6 huskies.
After getting acquainted with the dogs and learning how to mush your own team, the adventure will start. With adrenalin fl owing and excitement in the air, we’ll set off across the spectacular snow-covered landscape, driving along frozen rivers and through picturesque pine forests where the beauty and unique silence of the wilderness is bound to astound you.
After approximately 20-40 kilometres, we’ll arrive at our simple, yet cosy overnight timber cabin where we’ll fi rstly help each other to take care of the dogs and light the fi re inside the cabin. With no electricity or water, civilization is far away but there is of course a sauna which will be heated before dinner. During the evening we’ll enjoy a meal of Lappish specialities by the fi re, the perfect end to a fun-fi lled, wilderness day.
In the morning, fully refreshed we’ll prepare breakfast for our dogs and then ourselves before setting off again across the snow with our dog teams. Enjoy another wonderful day in the fresh air and nature amidst beautiful scenery with lunch prepared outdoors by the campfi re. Return to the Husky Camp after approx 40-60kilometres where your adventure will end leaving you with memories and images you will surely never forget.

Silence of the Arctic Winter
Our 5 day, 4 night husky safari in the heart of spectacular Swedish Lapland is a truly awe-inspiring wilderness experience that can hardly be put into words. Participants will enjoy total involvement throughout the tour having responsibility for their own dog-sled team of 4-6 huskies. Daily distances covered are between 40-60 kilometres depending on the ability of the group and the weather conditions. Nights are spent in simple but cosy wilderness huts with a warm stove, far from civilization and the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Day 1
Transfer to the husky farm in Swedish Lapland, 150 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle in the northern Torne River valley. Here you’ll get acquainted with the dogs and learn more about these remarkable animals. Enjoy a meal by the fi re or in a cosy timber cabin, excitement fl owing as you eagerly await the start of your adventure.
Day 2
After breakfast, pack the sleds, harness the dogs and learn how to drive the sled and take care of your own team.
Days 2-4
The safari route will take you through breathtaking Arctic scenery. You’ll drive along frozen rivers and lakes and through beautiful snow covered pine forests. After a day’s mushing, you’ll start to relax as your confi dence grows enabling you to take in the stunning surroundings. Let your thoughts go and experience an almost spiritual feeling of being at one with nature surrounded by silence and untouched wilderness. Breakfasts and dinners will be prepared in the overnight wilderness cabins and lunches outdoors by the fi re.
Day 5
After taking care of the dogs and eating breakfast, you’ll start your journey back to reality, arriving back at the husky farm after approximately 1 hour of mushing. Your exhilarating adventure may have ended but you’ll be sure to take with you many fond memories to be treasured forever.
