Family safari

Driving a snowmobile is easy. It’s also easy to become totally fascinated with it and everything you can see during this safari, which is suitable for the beginners and families. Full driving instructions and equipment (including a thermal suit, footwear, gloves and a helmet) make your guided journey a warm and safe one.

Northern lights safari with snowmobiles

The Northern Lights take place in the sky in the Arctic and Antarctic regions in clear, dark nights. This safari will lead us to the wilds to observe them. During the safari we will have a break for a warm drink beside an open fire. In case the Northern Lights are not visible, we can just admire the beautiful scenery and listen to the guide telling us about the ancient stories and beliefs of the Northern Lights.

Top of Ylläs

After we have changed our outfit and had the instructions about the driving, we will start our adventure. We drive around the Ylläs fell and all the way to the top of it. Ylläs fell is the highest (718 m) of the seven fells in Ylläs area. While we enjoy a cup of coffee on the top of the fell, we can admire the beautiful scenery over the villages. Please notice that only one person per snowmobile is permitted on this safari.

Ice fishing safari

After a snowmobile drive to a frozen lake you get to experience the traditional way of winter fishing – through a hole in the ice. You may also try fishing with the net. Maybe you will be lucky enough to catch the fish to be prepared on an open fire and enjoyed with a hot drink and a sandwich! It will be a relaxing day of learning the secrets of ice fishing.

Wilderness camp Aavajärvi

This excursion gives you an opportunity to release yourself for a while from day-to-day routines and rush. We will take you to middle of Lappish nature to enjoy its magnificent scenery and peaceful atmosphere. In this safari we will go first through open areas and over wetlands, following the general snowmobile trails, but after a while we will slip into the forest and leave the official trails behind. At our lunch place, Aavajärvi kota, guide will serve you a wilderness lunch

prepared over an open fire. Afterwards we continue driving up to the fell Kuertunturi from where we have a magnificent view over the village of Äkäslompolo.

Canyon experience

During this trip you will see the force of the water as it melted after the last Ice Age. With snowmobiles we head to Pakasaivo Gorge Lake, which is also known as “a Lappish Hell”, a worship place to ancient Sami people. We will take a sightseeing walk around the deep lake. Coffee and a meal are served in a tepee.

Snowmobiling to Lainio Snow Village

Take part on this half day snowmobile excursion, which takes us trough forests and wetlands to a white winter wonderland, to Lainio Snow Village. At the Snow Village you will see a true specimen of skill on snow building; Snow Hotel with its snowy hotel rooms and suites, Europe’s biggest Snow Bar, snowy playground for children, snow sculptures and ice art. ur guide will also show us the charming log chapel situated just next to the snow buildings. After guided tour, we will

enjoy delicious soup lunch at the cosy wilderness restaurant LainioKrouvi. Before we start the excursion you will be equipped with warm driving gear (overall, boots and a helmet). Our guide will also give us full instructions how to drive snowmobile.
