An experience as a native on Äkäsriver

Ancient Finns rode the Tornio- and Äkäsriver in their boats, searching for new livelihoods and better fishing waters. Today going with canoes on Lappish rivers makes us feel being part of the nature and helps us to forget all the hassle we’re going through in our daily lives.
During this trip we’ll travel the river on traditional Indian canoes. Äkäsriver is going to take us down quite calmly, but a few rapids will make up for the slower currents. As soon as we’ve found a spot where we can rest, we’ll stop to have a coffee, |

In the arms of the fells

The silhouettes of the fells in foliage colors reflected on the surface of the lake Kesänki create the best possible circumstances for a magnificent canoe trip. Giant canoes, suited for 10 people- or smaller Indian ones, soundlessly sliding with just a touch of a paddle, the sound of a snipe from the skies up above or the whistle of a ladle bird, can be heard around. We’ll paddle about four kilometers, eat an evening snack by the camp fire and we will have the possibility to hike up to the top of Kesänki fell to take a look at the breathtaking surroundings. |

Canoeing on the Äkäsjärvi
|
Canoeing on the clear water lakes and rivers gives you a different view of the nature. You can enjoy the silence and hear the rippling water. Äkäsjärvi is a perfect lake to be explored by a canoe or a kayak. We will discover the shores and bays of this magnificent lake with a picturesque view of the Pallas fells in the horizon. When we found a nice spot for a rest we will go on shore and have a light snack, prepared over the open fire. |

River roaring and reindeer farm tranquility
| Our whole day trip is directed at first to a reindeer farm in Muonio, (approximately 65 kilometers), where we get acquainted with the reindeer farming before and now, and of course with the reindeers too. We will see a short slide show of the reindeer’s year before we learn to catch the reindeers with a lasso and see how the reindeers are milked. At the end of the trip we get to drink a cup of coffee with a doughnut in a Lap hut. From Torassieppi we will continue to the Muonioriver, where we will enjoy going down the river and through rapids on a rubber raft. At our destination, a warm drink will be waiting for us. There will be a chance to eat a warm meal and get acquainted with the town of Muonio on our way back home. |

DELUX Floating trip at Äkäsjoki-river
|
We travel calmly along Äkäsjoki-river with a floating tube. Sitting on a floating tube we go towards the ample fishing waters and we get an excellent change for reel and fly fishing. We can also throw the anchor in the water and stop to view the beautiful fells around us. During the trip we take a break and enjoy our lunch outside in the nature. In the end of the trip we have a change to go and relax in the sauna and jump into a cooling lake for a swim. |
