For an authentic Lappish experience and to really experience the tranquility of the area, accommodation is in high standard, cosy log cabins, all complete with their own sauna.

Itinerary B – Wilderness Wonders
Day 1
| Transfer from Kittilä airport or Kolari railway station to the charming Lappish village of Äkäslompolo, approximately 150 kilometres within the Arctic Circle. Accommodation for the next 3 nights is in a charming, attractive log cabin in a tranquil and peaceful location. The village has a large, well stocked supermarket and the restaurant Kaivohuone is open every day for dinner and is renowned for its high standard cuisine and local specialities.

Day 2
|
10.00 - Enjoy an exhilarating day in the fresh air experiencing nature and outdoor life at its best. A unique combination of 3 of summer’s most popular activities, hiking, biking and canoeing, that will take you deep into the tranquil, Lappish forests amidst some wonderful scenery for a truly unforgettable day. We depart by car from the Destination Lapland Safari House in Äkäslompolo to Äkäsmylly. Äkäsmylly is a restored watermill next to the Äkäskurkkio rapids on the Äkäs River and is set in an area of outstanding beauty and history.

| From Äkäsmylly we begin our hike to Peurakaltio. A camping lunch is enjoyed outdoors before we continue our trip by bike, cycling along a variety of terrain to Lake Kesänki where we transfer to canoes and paddle through the beautiful fell lake to a forest laavu for a rest and welcome coffee break by the campfire. Here we also have the opportunity to hike through Pirunkuru ravine to the top of the stunning Kesänkitunturi fell. We then canoe back along the lake and return to Äkäslompolo by car.

Return to your log cabin and relax your aching muscles in the sauna.
Day 3
|
10.00 - Today, you’ll enjoy the clean fresh air of Lapland at a more relaxed pace. The streams, lakes and rivers in the Ylläs area are rich with salmon, grayling and trout and together with your guide you’ll set out on a 4 hour fishing tour selecting the best waters of the season. We recommend that you make up a pack lunch to take with you.

Spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Complimentary mountain bike rental is included for the afternoon enabling you to explore the area further independently. Collect and return the bikes from the Destination Lapland Office. Overnight in your log cabin. |

Minimum number of participants: 4
Price includes: 3 nights’ accommodation in a log cabin based on 2 adults sharing, return transfers from Kittilä Airport or Kolari Railway Station, activities as described in itinerary, outdoor camp lunch on day 2, mountain bikes during afternoon on day 3.
